The Lake of the Woods covered bridge will be closed from Oct. 3 to 7 and 10-14 for roof replacement. The bridge will be closed to vehicles, bikes, and pedestrians. Portions of the Lake of the Woods Bike Trail and Trillium Drive will also be closed. Read more

The Cornbelt Fire Department will host their annual Open House event to Oct. 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. The station, located at 506 E Main St., will be open to the public with free hot dogs and drinks available. Mahomet-Seymour senior Ainsley Winters won medalist honors and All-Conference accolades at the Apollo Conference girls’ golf tournament on Sept. 19. The Mahomet-Seymour Education Association announced late Tuesday that the union negotiation teams and the Mahomet-Seymour School District came to an agreement of terms to a contract.
